My husband and I enjoy hiking. We even plan trips around it. Recently we went to Canada. It was our first time in that country and we planned to explore Banff National Park.
Now there are many trails in the park, but the first we chose to do was a famous one we had read about. It was located at Lake Louise. It was called the “Lake Agnes Tea House Trail”. I liked the sound of a tea house!
Description said it was 2.2 miles one way and had an elevation gain of 1,300 feet. Well, we thought that sounded like something we could do (especially knowing that once you got to the tea house, there was actually tea and dessert)!
Well, alright, I’ll hike for dessert!
So we started the trail by going up, and then up some more and kept going up the whole time. I guess I should have realized that I had a lot of elevation to gain in a short time. It was tough, but the thought of that treat at the end kept me going.
We finally arrived. I wanted to order pie, tea and two Aleve, but decided on a pot of tea and an apple crumb.
Afterwards, we felt refreshed and ready to head back down the trail. We made it! Many other wonderful trails were completed in that park while we were in Canada.
I only wish every trail lead to a tea house.
