I love reading Wendy’s NYC Valentine and living vicariously through her late-night adventures in the Big Apple. I, too, love NYC but have grown to love the early mornings there. You see, I have an early-rising daughter and an early bird husband as well. What’s a girl to do but learn to roll with it?! Here are a few of our early morning memories of New York City
Jimmy: There is something about seeing the city in the early morning
Sunny: Yes, it looks like a completely different place.
Jimmy: You see the people going to work and getting ready for the day. Even though you are in Manhattan, there is something peaceful about the early morning.
Sunny: Unless you are in a mad dash to get to the Today Show! I think we took longer to get ready than we thought we would that morning.
Jimmy: We were at the Yankees game the night before.
Sunny: And I was pregnant.
Jimmy: We did get on TV!
Sunny: And it wasn’t quite as crowded since we got there during the last half of the show. And it was early June so the weather was beautiful. Warm, but not yet humid. I also liked visiting in late fall. Remember we got up early to walk the Brooklyn Bridge?
Jimmy: It was rainy.
Sunny: Yes, it was. We couldn’t see the skyline very clearly, but it was still a cool experience. I guess the moral here is to check the weather before you go! We did get some great pictures!
Jimmy: The Staten Island Ferry is also a good morning activity. You get some good views of the Statue of Liberty.
Sunny: It’s also free. Come to think of it, all of the early morning activities we talked about are free! The early morning NYC is easy on the budget!
What are your suggestions for seeing NYC in the morning?
Love it! You make a good case for getting up earlier. I just need strong coffee and an NYC bagel!
