Iceland, really?! This was my response when my daughter and son in law asked her Dad and me to join them on a trip to Iceland.
I have been to places with beautiful sounding names – places like the Caribbean, Hawaii, Tahiti. But the Land of Ice? Really? I had to ponder this for awhile.
So I started reading and hearing more about Iceland and decided it might be worth checking out. (I knew Joe and I would have fun just hanging out with Wendy and Jack on the trip, if not anything else to do).
Well, from the moment we arrived till the moment we left, I was amazed by Iceland. It was beautiful! We did a lot of traveling around by car and the drives turned into my favorite part of the trip. The landscape and scenery were beautiful, tranquil and peaceful! I never saw so many waterfalls: there is one, oh, there is another one, two over there, now I see three! Amazing!
The hills were the prettiest color green I have ever seen! They looked perfectly manicured and reminded me of velvet. The sheep sightings, which were plentiful, amused my daughter and I.
The glaciers were breathtaking! We all just stood frozen (ha ha) when we first saw them. The color was beautiful! I now know the true color of ICE BLUE.
Sometimes we would double back on a journey and I would get to soak in the scenery from the other side of the road. Thanks to my husband and son in law doing the driving, I was able to just sit back with my daughter and enjoy the beauty of the country.
Iceland, really?
YES, DEFINITELY!
