Disney is a magical place, but sharing it with your Grandchildren, well, that
makes it super magical!!!
My husband and I joined two of our daughters, a son-in-law and our two grandchildren for three days in Disney last month (thanks guys for including us). We had so much fun. The grandchildren are 13 and 9, so they were old enough to appreciate and remember everything. The oldest one hadn’t been since he was 4 and said he would always remember this trip and I’m sure he will.
Traveling with “Disney” people really made the trip easy. They had all our fast passes for rides and restaurants booked and synced up on our magic bands. They would tell us what time to be waiting for the bus to be at the park each day and we would all be there and ready!
Sometimes we would have a long wait (1 1/2 hours was the longest we waited) for a ride that we didn’t have a fast pass for. I was truly amazed how patient our grandkids were in line. Of course, their parents were great in coming up with cool games to play in line: Hand Slap
Game (with alphabetically naming Disney movies, characters, princesses and villains – WHILE SLAPPING AND CLAPPING HANDS THE WHOLE TIME!) Would you Rather Game, 20 Questions Game, etc.
Another distraction was watching the occasional melt down of a child or parent! My Granddaughter couldn’t imagine anyone crying in such a magical place.
One of our days there, the group split up into two different parks. Since we only had three days and different interests with the four parks, this worked out fine. It was fun sending photos and hearing about the different adventures that day from each park: rides, shows, food, etc.
Something very magical, not relating to Disney, happened while we were there too. The last day fell on a Sunday. We knew we weren’t going to be able to attend mass, so I mentioned to the group that if they wanted to meet in my husband and my room, we could do a little prayer service. They said they would be at our room at 7:00am and then we could board the bus to Hollywood Studios at 7:30. Well, they showed up at 6:55am. Our Grandson volunteered to do all the readings and our Granddaughter offered to sing a responsorial hymn and the alleluia! We said the Our Father together and we were ready to start our day. It was a magical start to a magical day.
It was another great trip with family and we all agreed we hope we can come back to Disney for more memories in the future.
Great recap Cindy. My sentiments exactly!
